The Club Scene

How can I say no to clubs if all my friends birthdays are coming up? Over the weekend I had the pleasure of celebrating one of my friends birthday at “The Alley Nightclub.” Let me first give you a vague history of this club. This is the club were RATCHETS would meet and do their RATCHET thing, while smoking and drinking just really RATCHETY. Ashley why would you want to go to a club like that? Good question, my best friend James loves this club and he insisted that they renovated and the club is more upscale now. He had to literally beg and plead for me to finally agree to go to this club.

And boy was I pleased, I can honestly say I had one of the most entertaining times partying this year. Of course we were all intoxicated but we genuinely had a good time. The music was great, the atmosphere was great, my feet didn't hurt, and my dress was bomb!

Speaking of my dress, I know I stress a lot of about being a broke college student, but this statement has never been truer to date. I went into TJ Maxx Friday evening looking for some leggings, and I saw this beautiful blue dress, and GUESS WHAT? It was on clearance for FIVE DOLLARS! Do you hear me? FIVE DOLLARS! I tried it on and I knew I was taking that home. This dress really gave me a lot of confidence and did a lot for my self esteem. Isn't it great when its so many guys in your face telling you how good you look?

Honey Blonde Tresses

My hair is something that I take a lot of care of, I wash it once sometimes twice a week, deep condition it when I have the time and maintain it the best I can. In January it will be one year since I last had a relaxer. Believe me, it has been MANY times where I just wanted to give up and put some of that creamy crack in my hair, but I have held my ground. Now that I have gotten my hair to a healthy state, I decided it was time to add some sexy color to it. I didn’t want to go to a professional because the prices tend to always be a little steep. So, I used some of my sisters left over bleach and begin picking medium size sections of hair, bleaching it, and then wrapping it up with aluminum foil. After I picked the desired sections of my hair, I used my blow dryer to start the bleaching process. I had my hair heated for about 15 minutes until I made the desired colored I wanted. After that I washed and deep conditioned my hair, I let it air dry for an hour then used my blow dryer to dry the rest.

Soon after, I applied my Chi silk serum and begin to divide my hair in very small sections so I could straighten my hair as well as my roots. And Voila! My new hair color, I love it, so many compliments already and it goes great with my complexion. When I have my make up and outfit right, it gives me a really seductive vibe. Tell me what you think?

Maybe one day, i'll add some extensions to it in this color!

Love Thy Self Before You Love Someone Else

This title to me reminds me of the Destiny Child “Writing on the Wall” album, when they had their commandments after every song.

Girls, this title is pretty much self-explanatory, you cannot love someone else when you don’t fully love yourself.

Think about it, if you don’t like what you are doing or like where your life is at right now how can you add another person to that? Adding another person will only make life more difficult because now instead of spending time working on you, you have to spend your time with a significant other that can NEVER get the full you.

First you need to ask yourself simply, are you happy. If you want to lose 100 pounds and become a healthier person but the guy you’re with wants to take you out to eat every night, and cook five course dinners, how could you possibly allow yourself to give that relationship 100%. Some relationships can work but it’s merely impossible because you will start to feel as though he doesn’t take your healthy lifestyle change seriously causing unneeded conflict.

Another example, if you aren’t where you want to be career-wise that means you're willing to do any and everything you can do to get promoted, this means long nights, early morning, traveling, and studying, why would you want to add a guy to this equation. Your main focus is yourself right now. Think about it, have you all ever dated someone who was all about their business? That means they aren’t ready for a relationship yet until they are happy with where they’re at.  Its hard to date a person whose number one focus isn’t you, therefore you need to make sure your main goals in life are complete or underway before you decide to get serious with a person.

One of the biggest problems with females is their decreased value of self worth and their confidence level being low. If you don’t love yourself mentally or physically, how can a guy love you like that? Do you know how uncomfortable a guy gets when his girl says something like “Im fat as hell, im such a whale, don’t you agree?” We have to stop doing that, we all have flaws but as you get older you have to turn your imperfections into your best features. Half the time guys don’t even know that we dislike our chunky legs or our crooked smile. LOVE YOURSELF FIRST and you will be able to love another with all your heart.

I am not studying this in school, but black relationships interest me beyond anything. It took me a long time to fully love myself, I would cry and ask God why, why I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror and why did I act the way I did. But then I realized life goes on, you have to take the bad with the good. Everyone is not made to be Beyonce, and believe it or not, she has flaws as well, but you must learn to embrace them so you can have the room in your heart to embrace a relationship.

I love me, do you?

Holiday Make-Up Looks

As the Holidays come near, Just about every women will be attending a couple parties. Just because it will take you hours in your closet to find the perfect fit for the holidays does not mean you have to spend hours doing your make-up.

These three looks i created, only take 15 minutes or less to do. They're very simple and your make up will look flawless each and every time.

With all three looks, these were the products used: Loreal BB Cream, VS HD Perfecting Powder, Wet&Wild Red Velvet, Wet&Wild Peachy Keen, ELF Baked Brush, M.A.C Blush in Razin, MAC sculpture concealer, and M.A.C Skin Finishing Powder, BH 88 Palette (not shown),M.A.C eyebrow pencil in Spiked (not shown), M.A.C Haute and Naughty 2 Black Lash (not shown) Arden Lashes (not shown), and ColorSensational Barely There(not shown)

First Look

This is a very simple look with a pop of color on the lip. All i did was use a gold and bronze shadow on the eyelid. I used a black eyeliner for my waterline. If you don't like eyeliner on your top lid, this look is perfect for you. For some reason i forgot to take pictures with mascara on, so please use your imagination. I think this face will look perfect with a form fitting black dress for an evening holiday party.

                                         The Second Look
This is my favorite look because i love a hint of color on my eyelids and a nude lip. I created this by using a dark green and brown shadow on my eyelid. I then used my liquid eyeliner to created a medium size line on my upperlid. I used a brown shadow for my undereye. For my cheeks i used ELF baked bronzer and for my lips i used Wet&Wild Peachy Keen and a clear gloss.

The Last Look
This is for the more daring. I would definitely pair it with a red dress for a sexy seductive look. I achieved this by using a black eye liner on my whole led, i then begin to blend it out with a dark brown eye shadow  The key to this look is to KEEP BLENDING. Smokey eyes are very difficult to do because if you don't do it right, you can end up looking like a raccoon  I then decided to add lashes to dramatize the eye more. I used a black eyeliner for my under eye and reapplied it three times. For my cheeks i used M.A.C. razin and for my lip i used ColorSensational Barely There mixed with M.A.C Delight lip gloss.

Which one is your favorite you guys?

XOXO

My 2012 Christmas List

Ladies 2012 has flown by, it’s already Christmas season, my favorite time of the year. I know it sounds so cliché but I enjoy making a Christmas list each year. I still have my Christmas list from 12 years ago; the number one thing I wanted was a spices girl Barbie doll!

Now that I’m 22 years old,  my Christmas list has gotten less complex. Overall I wish for sanity and the ability to live comfortable for another year, however I do have a few materialistic items I’m hoping Santa will bring me this year.

1 Fossil Stella Stainless Steel Watch $135
I know you all have seen this watch in a previous post & usually if I don’t buy something as soon as I see it, I won’t buy it. But this watch is still giving me MY LIFE. It’s beautiful and plus I don’t own any big face watches. Big face watches on women tell me that this women is a boss, she know what she likes and she knows how to get what she wants. I am really hoping and praying Santa will be good and get me this watch this year.

2 Juicy Couture Princess Studs $48
Anyone who truly knows me knows that I love stud earrings. Too me they speak volumes of class and elegance. While I was on the juicy couture website, these earrings stuck out like a sore thumb. I have never worn a pair of earrings of pink and gold. Me being brown skin, I know this will look lovely on my skin tone. If no one purchases these for me, I will be making my way to Dillard’s myself.

3 Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Skin Cleanser Center $149
This item I tried to resist from buying. But I used my friends one day and I instantly fell in love, my skin was so soft and it seemed like my pores were even smaller after the very first use. Now I did try to go the cheaper route by buying a facial brush from the body shop, yes, it works but it’s definitely no comparison to the clarisonic brush.

4 Vixon Over The Knee Black Boots
For years I always thought I was too young to wear over the knee boots, they screamed sex and seduction in my eyes. But now that I am older, I have to have a pair. Whenever I go clubbing, I’m always wishing I had a pair of black over the knee boots to pair with my leggings.

5 Victoria Secret Bombshell Bra $65
I know, I know, “ashley your boobs are already huge” however I love me a push up bra, you will never catch my 38DD sagging! This pretty self-explanatory, but I really want this bra for Christmas.

6. Michael Kors Large Bedford Saffiano
This bag I believe was sent from heaven above waiting to be swung from my wrist. Red accessories are such a statement piece and I cannot wait to pair this purse with an all-black ensemble from my closet.

This list pretty much sums up the things I really want for Christmas. I would love to hear of some things you’re wishing for Christmas

P.S I almost missed todays post, today was extremely busy and all I want to do right now is fall asleep in my bed, but I LOVE MY BLOG AND I LOVE YOU ALL and I don’t want to disappoint any of you all. SO thank you guys for being the motivation I need to continue on writing daily!

Goodnight and love you all!

Is Being a Black, Educated & Successful Women Dangerous in the Dating World?

Ladies this is one my favorite topics to blog about especially because I am beautiful and educated African American women in the dating world.

I don’t know if where I’m from has a lot to do with it, but it’s a large amount of successful young women man-less or have a half of a man! What is a half of a man? A half of a man is a guy that is willing to TALK TO YOU FOR YEARS but has no intention of making you all official! You will be going out (seldom), movie nights at his house and then of course sex… BUT NEVER AN OFFICIAL RELATIONSHIP!

As I was talking to one of my best guy friends he addressed that this is one of our main problems, SEXING before a relationship evolves. Doing this gives the guy the impression that he does not have to work on having you because he has what he was after, your “kitty”.

And don’t get me wrong, some “talking relationships” are fine, all the amenities of having a man just not the title, some females are content with that; I AM NOT ONE OF THEM.  I’ve been in a few and at the end of the day IT DOES NOT WORK. He has the right to talk to other girls, go to the club and meet other girls, text and see other girls, because FOR ONE, YOU AIN’T HIS GIRL!

Guys will keep the successful and educated women as a side jank, but impregnate and wife up the girls who aren't doing much of anything with their life.  What’s the reason you ask? The higher a female is career and education wise the harder it is finding her a man. Again, why do you ask? Guys are taught at a young age that they are supposed to be the man of the house, the person who brings the bacon home, fix stuff when things are working right, just doing their manly duties, so why would you want a women who can do all those things herself and who never asks for your help. Guys get girls who aren’t doing much with their life because they know they can come and run stuff and feel like “the king that they are.” I AM NOT MAKING THIS STUFF UP YOU GUYS. I am doing my research, I am talking to these males, I am in these “talking relationships”, and I have fell victim of being a side jank! Not only is it hard but it’s sad because we deserve so much more than what we are receiving.

All of our lives we are taught to do something with our lives, go to school, make a nice living, cure HIV, etc., but does that have to mean skip over finding a soul mate because no guy wants a women doing good without the help of a man?

Now while I say this, there are so many MANY many guys that are available who want a strong willing women like us, but we over look them. They’re the guys who are dedicated to their school or work, deeply involved with church, or just simply not always in the spotlight. But for some reason, we are somehow attracted to these flashy swag guys, decreasing the chances of the good guy ever trying to approach us.
If any of you ladies have any advice to these girls (including myself) who want to succeed but also want to have a healthy none-zealous relationship, please post it below. I know too many girls who are risking their college education to be a housewife. I do not want to compromise and jeopardize being at the top by myself just so I can stand BEHIND a man working his way to the top. I was not brought up like that and I know many other girls weren't either.

No one knows how adamant I am about this topic but I know the time will come for someone to sweep us off our feet and treat us like the queens we are, it will happen ladies, keep hope alive lol.

XOXO

-Ashley.

My Weekend

This past weekends was probably one of my most chill weekends in a while. But while I didn’t go out and party I did have alot of fun surprisingly doing something i never did before with a couple of my girlfriends. Dont get me wrong, i have swung and looked cute on this thing but i never seriously learned to actually do tricks on it.

Do you guys know what im talking about? .... Yes, A STRIPPER POLE!

One of my friends had recently taken pole dancing classes and decided it was essential to buy a pole for her home. We had a blast of fun learning and playing on the pole.

I now commend strippers because you have to have so much upper body strength to do some of the simplest tricks.

Not only is pole dancing sexy, but it’s a great workout. We all produced a huge sweat and it’s been two day since I was dancing on it and my arms are sore as hell. But I want to do it again, when I get enough space, I’m definitely investing in one. I can picture it now, learning some good moves and putting on a show for my man! HAHA!

While that was not the only thing I did over the weekend, I also learned a new drinking game. THUMPER! OMG, this game will get you messed up quick, fast, and in a hurry.

First everyone makes a signature move, then it’s like a memory game and if you can’t remember another team mate’s move, you have to drink! Imagine the amount of alcohol consumed that night.

Also I have a new drink recipe that is absolutely delicious!

Bloody Sex ( don’t ask me why, because I don’t know lol)

Bacardi 151
Bacardi Vodka
Pineapple Juice
Mountain Dew

Try it, its great and it taste really fruity.

I want to leave you all with a video of some beginner moves to start off on whenever you are ready to hop on that pole. I SUGGEST YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO AND TRY THIS AT HOME WITH KIRKO BANGZ AND CHRIS BROWN SONG "THAT POLE" PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND, ITS SO SEXY AND INTIMATE.

Ok Loves, until next time!

Tommy Hilfiger Duplicates

As winter starts to sashay its way in your life, boots are becoming a necessity for everyday wear & unless you’re making the “mullah” to be buying 200 dollar pair of boots, I suggest you continue reading this post!

One of my favorite bloggers, afatgirlblues, recently had instragramed a photo of DOTS clothing store coupons. The coupons were $10 of $35, $15 of $45, and $20 of $60. Of course I took the best offer and spent $60 and I am very pleased with my purchases.

The first pair of boots I purchased was these brown two textured riding boots with a stacked heels. As soon I saw them I immediately thought of the Tommy Hilfiger riding boots I had seen prior! Priced at $25.99, you know I had to get me a pair.

The second pair of boots purchased was these faux leather two toned riding boots. Again these boots reminded me of another pair of boots from Tommy Hilfiger, so I knew these were my new babies.

I also bought a pair of tights and earrings and I ended up spending $47 dollars, the college student on a budget wins again!

Check out the dupes and see did I do a hit or a miss!

These boots from DOTS were $29.99 while the boots below are $189.99

The boots on top were $25.99 while the boots below are priced at $189.99

Its Day #2 ladies, tell me what you thank! XOXO

Best Friends Birthday Party

Over the weekend I was delighted to celebrate one of my best friends 21st birthday at Palace. Unfortunately she could not get in her own celebration due to her tardiness and the cover charge increasing to $40 at the door. Ladies, it’s not cute to get to a popular club VERY FASHIONABLY LATE lol.

Needless to say, I still enjoyed myself and partied enough for her.

Doing some last minute dress shopping that day I ended up with this black with leather detailed dress that I found at Marshals for $17. Such a steal! I love these styles of dresses because they look elegant, they clinch your waist, not to short and they still give you the illusion of long legs. The only thing I wish I would have did was trade my black Jeffery Campbell inspired boots for some red pumps! That definitely would have pulled the look all the way together.

Here's some pics to enjoy!

i just like this picture because of my eyebrows!

Getting a dose of the club in the car

My Friend Porsha, she's beautiful.

First Lady Michelle Obama

My school, Hampton University, had the honor of hosting a rally with First Lady Michelle Obama Friday afternoon. That was definitely one of the best experiences I could ever have at my tenure at Hampton.

Me and a couple of my girlfriends were in line from 10am to 2pm in the freezing cold. During that time we played games, gossiped, and just thought of anything possible to make the time go by faster. You should have seen the line it was wrapped around every corner. Luckily for us, we were closer to the front so we were guaranteed access to this moment in history.

The crazy thing about this is they were giving out tickets on Wednesday while I was working and by the time I tried to get my ticket there were no more left, so I was kind of bummed that I wasn’t going to be able to see the FLOTUS. But when I went to my event management class on Friday, my professor asked was I going and when I told him there was no more tickets left, he gave me his extra one. WHAT A BLESSING!

While I am not in any kind of way telling you to vote for one party, I am TELLING you go to vote on Tuesday, because no matter what anyone says, your VOTE DOES COUNT!
In the line, FREEZING!

Understatement of how long the line was!
